Overview: The Fire Inspector course is designed to provide participants with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to conduct fire and life safety inspections. This comprehensive program covers the principles and practices of fire prevention, code enforcement, and fire safety inspections. This program delivers the essential knowledge and skills needed to conduct inspections, enforce fire codes, and identify potential hazards in various types of buildings. Participants will learn how to assess building construction, fire protection systems, and emergency planning procedures to ensure public safety and compliance with local, state, and national fire regulations. Upon completion, participants are ready for certification testing and typically prepared to assume a position in the fire inspection field. This course is based on NFPA 1030: Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Prevention Program Positions, Chapter 7, Fire Inspector, 2024 Edition.
Note - Successful completion and passing of certification process with the Tennessee Firefighting Personnel Standards and Education Commission testing does not authorize individuals to conduct inspections within the State of Tennessee as a certified inspector as authorized by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. A separate, approved licensure is needed to meet requirements to perform inspections as set forth by the rules presently adopted by the Fire Marshal’s office.
