CF219-04 - Fire Department Operations at Sprinklered Buildings (4)
Fire Department Operations at Sprinklered Buildings (4)
Overview: It is critical that firefighters and company officers are prepared for the unique circumstances of responding to incidents in occupancies protected by water-based fire suppression systems. Responding companies must know how to properly interact with automatic fire sprinkler systems and employ their inherent fire suppressive function to save lives and protect property. This course offers recommendations for occupancies with interior and exterior automatic sprinkler systems and standpipe systems. This course will prepare students for the difficult situations and problems they may encounter associated with supplying and supplementing a fire sprinkler system and operating from standpipe systems and the potential solutions will be discussed throughout the course. During this course, case studies will be reviewed and discussed that highlight actual events and lessons learned to emphasize the importance of designing, installing, inspecting and maintaining fire suppression systems to effectively fight fires. This course covers the recommendations found in NFPA 13E, Recommended Practices for Fire Department Operations in Properties Protected by Sprinkler and Standpipe Systems.
