Overview: This training program is designed to familiarize participants with fire extinguishers and recognize common types and inspection concerns associated with special extinguishing systems. Participants will examine the selection, placement, accessibility, identification, condition, maintenance, and inspection of portable fire extinguishers. The course emphasizes the relationship between the hazards present within a building and the type, size, location, and distribution of portable extinguishers required. The course also introduces inspectors to special extinguishing systems. Participants will learn to recognize system components, understand the basic purpose and limitations of special extinguishing systems, identify common deficiencies, and determine when additional documentation, testing, servicing, or evaluation by a qualified professional is necessary.
