Weather-Related State Forest Closure Information

Periodically, severe weather events or extensive management activities at state forests impact public and staff safety. When that happens, we may temporarily pause access to one or more state forests. These decisions are made to promote visitor and TDF staff safety. When this happens, local staff will closely monitor conditions on the ground to evaluate when it is safe to reopen.    

Prentice Cooper State Forest

The following roads are closed due to excessive rain that has caused soggy roads conditions. They will reopen after conditions have improved.

• Shelton Loop Trail

• Marshall Fork Road

• West Brow Road

• Maple Branch Loop

• Short Creek Road

• Natural Bridge Road

• Elder Point Road

• Long Point Road
