Weather-Related State Forest Closure Information

4/8/2026, Prentice Cooper State Forest Closure: County Tile replacement... the county will be replacing the front entrance culvert on Wednesday morning at the entrance of the Forest/county road. There will be no in‑or‑out access while the work is underway. The county estimates the closure will last approximately four hours.

Periodically, severe weather events or extensive management activities at state forests impact public and staff safety. When that happens, we may temporarily pause access to one or more state forests. These decisions are made to promote visitor and TDF staff safety. When this happens, local staff will closely monitor conditions on the ground to evaluate when it is safe to reopen.
