Boards, Commissions, and Committees

Boards, commissions and committees administratively attached to the Tennessee Department of Agriculture serve vital roles in the governance and oversight of agricultural activities within the state. These entities are typically required or authorized by state law. Their primary purpose is to oversee various aspects of agriculture, including regulatory compliance, policy development, and resource management, thereby ensuring the sustainable and efficient growth of the agricultural sector.

The Tennessee Agriculture and Forestry Hall of Fame was created by the General Assembly in 2025 as a successor to the Agricultural Hall of Fame created in 1937. The Hall of Fame highlights persons who made a significant impact on the improvement of agriculture or forestry in the state through agricultural or forestry business, invention, production, science, or technology. The Hall of Fame is under the general supervision of the Agriculture and Forestry Hall of Fame Board and is housed in the Tennessee Agricultural Museum at Ellington Agricultural Center in Nashville.
