Title VI Requirements
Title VI is federal law. It’s part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin. All department employees and sub-recipients of federal funding through the department must be knowledgeable of the aspects of compliance with Title VI. It covers any program receiving federal financial assistance, including federal grants. Since the Tennessee Department of Agriculture receives financial assistance, the department’s programs and activities are all subject to the requirements of Title VI.
