Wellness Council Chair Checklist

This is designed to help you, as a wellness council chair, plan, lead and support wellness efforts within your agency.

Build Your Wellness Council

  • Recruit wellness council members from different roles and areas of your agency. Recruitment cards are available. Email WFHT.TN@tn.gov for information.
  • Stay in regular contact with council members to keep everyone informed and involved.

Communicate With Your Agency

  • Decide how and how often wellness information will be shared.
  • Identify who will send communications on behalf of your wellness council.
  • Get approval before sharing information.

Before Promoting Activities

  • Connect with your public information officer or the person in charge of internal communication at your agency.
  • Connect with your agency's legal counsel.

Hold Regular Meetings

  • Schedule meetings with wellness council members on a regular basis.
  • Review quarterly activity lists, ideas and action items.
  • Assign tasks among council members and follow up on progress.
  • Your Working for a Healthier Tennessee wellness coordinator is available to help.

Stay Connected With Working for a Healthier Tennessee

  • Get permission before using the Working for a Healthier Tennessee logo.
  • Share updates about wellness activities, challenges or events your team or division has hosted by completing the wellness activity submission form.
  • Submit photos for social media (with employee permission).
  • Submit up to one wellness council budget request per fiscal year.

Participate in Working for a Healthier Tennessee Meetings

  • Join monthly wellness council webinars.
  • Attend the annual Working for a Healthier Tennessee celebration.

Plan for the Future

  • Identify and prepare a successor for the wellness council chair role.
  • Create a plan to ensure a smooth transition in the event you need to step down.
