Motor Carrier Plus

The Motor Carrier Plus (MC+) Division oversees all commercial vehicle enforcement programs, including eight fixed-scale facilities, the New Entrant program, Pupil Transportation, and has oversight for all federally required commercial vehicle regulation and enforcement activities. 

With more than 80 full-time troopers, the division is equipped to conduct activities at both fixed-scale facilities and roadside using portable scales.  Major commercial vehicle activities include inspecting and weighing commercial motor vehicles, auditing driver records and logs, conducting highway patrols focused on commercial vehicle violations, educating the public on sharing the road with commercial vehicles and combating illegal activities that may utilize commercial vehicles such as the transportation of illegal drugs and human trafficking.

This Division plays a vital role in ensuring commercial vehicles and their operators comply with state and federal safety requirements and serves as a liaison to the trucking industry and local law enforcement agencies, providing essential training, regulation clarification, and guidance to promote safer Tennessee Highways.
