Krissi McInturff

Mrs. Krissi McInturff was appointed to the State Board of Education in 2023. A native of Bristol, TN, she earned her B.S. in Early Childhood Development and Master of Education in Elementary Education from Milligan University. Krissi is currently pursuing a PhD in History from Liberty University.

As a Tennessee public school teacher for 15 years, she has served in many leadership roles, including being one of the district’s TNCORE Learning Leaders, chairing various committees, and being named the 2015 Washington County Teacher of the Year. She has been a presenter to her district, as well as at the Niswonger Foundation’s School Success Symposium on how she implements math and literacy workstations in the classroom and how she establishes routines to efficiently execute small group instruction. Mrs. McInturff has taught third grade, first grade, RTI, and fourth grade ELA and Social Studies.

Mrs. McInturff has been awarded several grants during her career that provided her students with more resources including iPads, TouchMath curriculum, and Social Studies materials. She was awarded the Tennessee Ticket Subsidy Grant multiple times, providing funding for tickets and transportation for the entire grade level to attend Barter Theatre plays.

Krissi is a member and Sunday School teacher at Hope Church and lives in Jonesborough with her husband Rob. They have 2 sons, Mac and Ted.
