Education Recovery and Innovation Commission

In 2020, the Tennessee General Assembly formed the Education Recovery and Innovation Commission through Public Chapter 792. This commission was formed to examine the short- and long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on education in Tennessee. Members of the Commission formed recommendations for the General Assembly, State Board of Education, Tennessee Department of Education, Tennessee Higher Education Commission, and higher education institutions to close educational gaps arising from school closures and to modernize the state's educational structure to create more flexibility in the delivery of education to students.

The Commission concluded its work on June 30, 2022 with the publication of its third and final report, A Vision: Every Tennessean Will Have High-Quality Education Necessary for Life.
