Cathy Kolb is a veteran educator with more than four decades of experience in public education, dedicated to supporting students with diverse learning needs and strengthening instructional practice. She has spent the majority of her career as a special education teacher in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing differentiated and small-group instruction, and collaborating closely with families and fellow educators to support student growth and academic success.

Throughout her career, Kolb has taught in a variety of educational settings. Her work has focused on advocating for students with special needs, fostering inclusive classroom environments, and mentoring new teachers. She has also served as a special education department chairperson and has trained fellow educators on IEP development, compliance, and best practices. In recognition of her dedication and impact, Kolb has been named a building-level Teacher of the Year on three occasions.

Beyond the classroom, Kolb has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to professional service and volunteer leadership in education. She most recently served as president of Professional Educators of Tennessee, where she supported educators statewide through leadership development, professional collaboration, and engagement on issues impacting public education. Her involvement with education-focused organizations has included mentoring educators, contributing to statewide initiatives, and supporting efforts to strengthen teaching and learning across Tennessee.

Kolb holds an Education Specialist degree in Special Education and Administration from Austin Peay State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and Psychology from Western Kentucky University. She resides in Clarksville, Tennessee, and remains actively engaged in her local community.
