2024-2025 TAEP Application A

50% Cost Share – Maximum Reimbursement - $7,000

Reimbursement is based on eligible project amount up to maximum per square foot. Square footage is calculated post to post. Overhang is not eligible in calculating square footage.

Lifetime Limit

This program has a lifetime limit of three (3) reimbursements.

Applicant Responsibility

It is the applicant’s responsibility to review all TAEP program requirements prior to applying for cost share. Applicant must qualify for program selected at time of application to be considered for approval.

Applying for TAEP

Minimum Requirements

Cattle – 30 head or Goats/Sheep – 50 head or Hay – 100 acres in production (first cutting only)

Applicant must meet at least one of the minimum requirements of head of livestock or acres in production for program.
Verification of minimum requirement may be requested prior to approval.
Acreage can be owned or leased in Tennessee.
Applicant may be required to list location of acres at time of reimbursement.
Head of Livestock = maximum number of single type, regardless of sex or age, at any one time during the last 12 months.
Goats/Sheep can be combined to meet minimum head requirement.

Hay Storage – structure for the use of hay storage only

Requirements
•    Standalone center structure only
    •    Structure must be new construction pole or hoop style barn
    •    At least one side/end must be completely open
    •    Additions in the form of side sheds or extensions in length are not eligible
    •    Sides/walls are optional
•    Minimum of 1,200 sq. ft.
    •    Loft or 2nd level will not be considered in total square footage of structure
    •    Square footage is calculated post to post
•    Minimum 14 ft. eave height

Eligible Material & Labor
•    New lumber – braces, framing, posts, sides, trusses
•    New metal – braces, framing, posts, roof, sides, trusses
•    New polymer coated fabric – roof and siding for hoop style barn
•    Labor for construction of hay storage structure
    •    Labor must be itemized on invoice
    •    Labor provided by applicant is not eligible

Reimbursement Maximum Per Square Foot
$4.00/sq. ft. maximum reimbursement

Common ineligible costs include fees, flooring (concrete, gravel and/or geotextile), material overrun costs, project management fees, pallet charges, sales tax, site preparation, and surcharges. Invoice revisions will not be accepted.

Adding metal, lumber, siding, etc. to an existing structure
Additions in the form of side sheds or length are not eligible
Building walls on an existing structure
Carports/garage type structures, shipping containers
Clearing land/site preparation
Completely enclosed buildings
Concrete – if used for flooring
Corral panels and gates
Doors – walk through and drive though
Extensions in length of existing structures
Fees – of any kind including material overrun, pallet, project management, etc.
Flooring – concrete, gravel and/or geotextile
Freight/shipping fee – other than building materials
Fuel surcharge
Geotextile
Gravel/rock
Gutters
Insulation in walls
Invoice revisions
Labor provided by the applicant
Loft and/or 2nd level

Reimbursement Request Deadline – August 1, 2025

Allowable purchase dates for Hay Storage are from October 1, 2024 – August 1, 2025.
All items, regardless of backorder status, must be purchased (paid in full or financed) by the program reimbursement deadline. Backordered items may be ineligible for cost share if not delivered to the farm by the program deadline.
Receipts must be in the name of the applicant approved for cost share funding.
Quotes and purchase orders do not represent a purchase and are not considered receipts.
Proof of payment may be requested to verify purchase.
