Home Blood Pressure Cuffs

TennCare and CoverKids now cover home blood pressure cuffs at no cost for pregnant and postpartum members. Early detection of high blood pressure is crucial for preventing serious complications such as preeclampsia, stroke, and heart disease. These at home cuffs will allow women to monitor their health proactively and identify early warning signs of hypertension from the comfort of their homes.

To raise awareness about the availability of blood pressure cuffs, TennCare has created a Blood Pressure Cuff Flyer that may be distributed digitally or printed and posted.

Member Eligibility

Members who have TennCare or CoverKids and are pregnant or in the postpartum period are eligible to receive a home blood pressure cuff.

Ordering a Home Blood Pressure Cuff

Any in-network medical provider can order a blood pressure cuff for a pregnant or postpartum TennCare or CoverKids member, it does not need to be the member’s obstetrician.

Providers can order a Home Blood Pressure Cuff by ordering a device from the appropriate the durable medical equipment (DME) company for each Managed Care Organization (MCO). Some MCOs have more than one DME company available to contact. It is critical to include a maternity-related diagnosis when submitting an order. Resources are provided to assist with ordering a home blood pressure cuff.
