Programs and Facilities

TennCare offers a variety of programs that support both providers and members such as,

  • Maternal Health services including lactation consultants, mental health screenings, pregnancy and post-partum benefits, and more.
  • Behavioral Health services including emotional wellbeing services, virtual visits, family support programs, and more.
  • The BeSMART program, a specialized provider network focused on contracting with high-quality medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) providers to provide comprehensive care to TennCare members with opioid use disorder (OUD).
  • Hospital Presumptive Eligibility, where participating hospitals can screen and provide immediate coverage to qualified individuals -- and help these patients complete the regular TennCare application process.
  • Behavioral Health Crisis Prevention Intervention and Stabilization for Individuals with IDD (intellectual and developmental disabilities), a program implemented to identify potential providers of Behavioral Health Crisis Prevention, Intervention, and Stabilization Services for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) who experience challenging behaviors that place themselves and others at risk of harm, under a newly designed I/DD Stabilization Model of Support.
  • The Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Benefit (NEMT), which provides rides for any TennCare Member who does not have access to transportation. Transportation is available to any TennCare-covered service.
  • Health Starts, TennCare’s approach to improving the health of Tennesseans by focusing on the conditions where they live, work, and play. TennCare’s vision for Health Starts is that all TennCare members are screened for Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) with a unified screening tool and identified needs are met by community resources, resulting in the improved health of each TennCare member.
