Llamas and Alpacas

North American Llamas are raised for packing, wool production, cart pulling, animal facilitated therapy, companion animals, exhibition in shows, and guardians of other livestock such as sheep. Alpacas, a smaller cousin of the Llama, produce one of the world's finest natural fibers. Soft as cashmere, warmer, lighter and stronger than wool, it comes in more colors than any other fiber producing animal. The Business Development Division maintains a Llama and Alpaca producer directory and producers can market their fiber at no cost on PickTnProducts.org.
