How to Enroll in Your Benefits

and Other Helpful Information

Employee Self Service in Edison

You’ll use Employee Self Service in Edison to add, remove or make changes to your insurance coverage, unless otherwise noted. Higher education employees may be able to access Edison through their human resources system. Look for information from your institution about this.

  • Annual Enrollment elections must be submitted through the Edison self-service portal. Active employees: Your agency benefits coordinator can also submit your Annual Enrollment elections for you electronically via a benefit form. See your ABC about this option.
  • Enrollment Change Applications are not accepted for Annual Enrollment elections unless you are a new hire and within your 30-day initial enrollment period.

Look for the green Benefits Enrollment button:

  • Click the green Benefits Enrollment button, then click the Login button to sign in to Edison using your Access ID. This is not your eight-digit Edison employee ID. To get your Access ID, go to Edison, click the green Benefits Enrollment button and then select the Retrieve Access ID button.
  • Once logged in, choose the Annual Enrollment tile to start your enrollment.
  • Edison lists all the insurance plans you are currently enrolled in, or that are available to you, except voluntary term life insurance, if eligible.
  • State and higher education employees enroll in voluntary term life insurance on the Securian life insurance website.
  • Higher education employees enroll in flexible savings accounts by going to the TASC website
  • You can enroll on your computer or mobile device. Use the device’s built-in web browser.

If you’re adding new dependents or a spouse, we need documents to prove their relationship to you.

  • Dependent verification documents MUST be submitted within 10 days after your Annual Enrollment deadline.
  • Find a list of required documents under Publications > Forms > Active Employees and COBRA. Required documents are listed in the Dependent Eligibility Verification Documents.
  • The following documents are NOT acceptable for spouses: car loan statements, utility bills, cell phone bills, cable bills and voided checks.
  • If you and your spouse both work for agencies on the State Group Insurance Program, you cannot cover each other on your insurance, unless you’re enrolled in different plan groups, such as State, Local Education or Local Government. You must also choose only one plan option for your dependent children.

Important Edison Notes

Users should go to Edison through the TN.gov website. At the top of the page, click on Government, then State Employees, and then click the Edison tile. Using shortcuts, bookmarks, saved links or icons can cause login issues.

When using Edison ESS, the preferred browser is Microsoft Edge. Clearing your browser’s cache and cookies can help fix navigation issues. You can review the Clearing Cache document for help. 

You’ll log in using your Access ID. This is not your eight-digit Edison employee ID. Your user ID, also called the Access ID, is a combination of both letters and numbers.

During Annual Enrollment, subject to eligibility you can:

  • Review your current enrollment choices
  • Enroll in or cancel health insurance for yourself or your eligible dependents
  • Choose or change your health insurance plan option
  • Choose or change your health insurance carrier and network (local education and local government employees and retirees who enroll in the new Copay PPO will use BlueCross Network S)
  • Enroll in, cancel or change dental options (if offered by your agency)
  • Enroll in, cancel or change vision options (if offered by your agency)
  • Enroll in or cancel voluntary accidental death and dismemberment coverage (state and higher education only)
  • Apply for, cancel, increase or decrease voluntary term life insurance coverage amounts (state and higher education only). Applying for the first time or increasing coverage more than the guaranteed issue amount for the employee or spouse will require answers to health questions.
  • Enroll in flexible benefits options (state and higher education employees only)
  • Apply for short-term disability insurance for the first time (state and higher education only), which requires answering health questions.
  • Cancel enrollment in short-term disability
  • State and higher education employees are automatically enrolled in long-term disability insurance.
