Responsibilities

The Traffic Modeling Office supports TDOT project development by developing traffic analysis models to determine how a project will affect traffic operations, safety, and system performance. These analyses guide design decisions from early concept development through final design.

Responsibilities include:

·       Evaluating planning and operational alternatives

·       Improving infrastructure design

·       Reducing disruptions to traffic flow

·       Presenting traffic analysis to project stakeholders and the public

·       Monitoring roadway performance

·       Analyzing traffic patterns with modeling and probe data software

The Traffic Modeling Office is involved in PDN activities 1TD1 and 1TD2, which include:

·       Developing and validating traffic models

·       Providing operational analysis throughout design stages

·       Supporting multidisciplinary coordination

·       Delivering traffic data for signal, lighting, and ITS/TSMO design

·       Maintaining consistency with TDOT tools and processes
