    NASHVILLE – The Bureau of TennCare announced today its partnership with the Million Hearts initiative. Million Hearts was launched in 2011 by the federal Department of Health and Human Services to develop a public-private partnership with likeminded organizations to make an impact on heart disease in the United States.     Nashville, Tenn. – The Bureau of TennCare awarded managed care contracts to AmeriGroup, BlueCare Tennessee and UnitedHealthcare. The apparent winners of the three-year contracts with possible one-year extensions were announced on December 16, 2013. Following a 10-day inspection period the contracts were officially awarded and signed on December 27, 2013, beginning a one-year transition period.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Bureau of TennCare has earned the Commitment Award in the annual Excellence in Tennessee recognition program administered by the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE). TNCPE is the only state-wide quality program and is patterned on the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, the national standard for recognizing organizational excellence. TennCare will accept the award at the 21st annual Excellence in Tennessee Awards Banquet on February 19, 2014.

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Overall enrollee satisfaction with the TennCare program is at its highest level, according to a UT report released today. Ninety-five percent of TennCare recipients surveyed expressed satisfaction with the care they received, the highest level since the program’s inception.

MCOs in Tennessee are required to report Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) information as part of the state’s accreditation mandate. The information included in this report is for the previous 2012 calendar year.

    NASHVILLE – The Bureau of TennCare has selected DentaQuest USA Insurance Company as the new Dental Benefits Manager (DBM) for the state Medicaid program. The three-year contract was awarded on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, signaling the start of a five-month readiness period. The transition from TennDent, TennCare’s current DBM, to DentaQuest will take effect October 1, 2013.

    NASHVILLE – The Bureau of TennCare has selected Magellan Health Services as the new Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) for the state Medicaid program. The three-year, $35 million contract was awarded in December 2012, signaling the start of six months of extensive preparation and readiness reviews. The transition from Catamaran, TennCare’s current PBM, to Magellan will take effect June 1, 2013.

    NASHVILLE — The Bureau of TennCare today announced the results of the 2011 HEDIS/CAHPS Report: A Comparative Analysis of Audited Results from TennCare Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). Once again, the state performed well in the area of child health, with statewide weighted average scores exceeding the 2010 national Medicaid average for measures such as childhood immunization status, lead screening in children, appropriate testing for children with pharyngitis, use of appropriate medications for people with asthma and children and adolescents’ access to primary care practitioners.

    KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville today released the findings from its study, “The Impact of TennCare: A Survey of Recipients 2011.” The results show TennCare continues to earn high marks from those who receive its services – with enrollees reporting the highest satisfaction scores to date.
