State Board of Education Begins 2026-28 Math Standards Review Process
Public Feedback Survey Opens; Tennessee Educators Invited to Apply to Serve on Expert Review Committees
Nashville, TN – Today, the State Board of Education launched the 2026-28 Math Standards review process with the opening of a first-round public feedback survey. All Tennessee residents are invited to participate in the survey to provide input on the state’s current TN Math Standards. In addition, the State Board has opened an application window giving Tennessee K-12 and postsecondary educators the opportunity to serve on expert standards review committees during the TN Math Standards review period. The survey and application window are open from April 1 through April 30.
The first-round public feedback survey marks the first step in a rigorous review process designed to maintain collaboration and transparency. Public feedback collected on the existing TN Math Standards will help inform the review by multiple committees of expert Tennessee educators. Throughout the process, these committees will work to develop potential revisions to the current TN Math Standards for implementation in the 2031-2032 school year.
“Public feedback is critical to continuously refining our state academic standards and ensuring they provide clear expectations for students, educators, and families across Tennessee,” said Dr. Sara Morrison, executive director of the State Board of Education. “As we begin the two-year review process, input from Tennesseans will play a vital role in shaping thoughtful, meaningful updates to our TN Math Standards.”
In conjunction with the opening of the first-round public feedback survey, the State Board has opened the application for Tennessee educators to serve as experts on the TN Math Standards review committees. Educators from across Tennessee are encouraged to apply for the Educator Advisory Team (EAT) and Standards Development Committee (SDC). These committees will provide classroom perspective and content expertise to inform the entire TN Math Standards review cycle. The application window is open from April 1 through April 30.
