Governor Bill Lee has appointed Britain Sapp, a senior at Bradley Central High School in Bradley County Schools, to the Tennessee State Board of Education.

As a student member, Ms. Sapp will serve a one-year term with full voting privileges on the State Board of Education. Student members participate in board meetings, weigh in on education rules and policies, and represent the perspectives of Tennessee’s more than one million public school students.

“I am thrilled to welcome Britain to the State Board of Education,” said Dr. Sara Morrison, executive director of the State Board. “Her impressive leadership experience and genuine passion for representing her peers will provide a valuable perspective on our work. As a voting student member, Britain will play a key role in shaping statewide education policy, and we look forward to the energy and ideas she will bring to every meeting.”

Ms. Sapp brings a strong record of leadership and service at the local, state, and national levels. She currently represents her state as the East Tennessee Middle and High School Representative for the Tennessee Association of Student Councils. Ms. Sapp serves her school as Student Body President, Vice President of Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Media Leader, National Honor Society Officer, and Treasurer of both her school's Interact and Health Occupations Students of America chapters. In addition, she is also a Varsity Basketball Cheerleader supporting the Bradley Central Bearettes in winning three State Championship titles.
