Tennessee State Board of Education to Hold Quarterly Meeting and Workshop
The Tennessee State Board of Education will hold its first quarterly meeting of 2018 at theCordell Hull building on Thursday, January 25 and Friday, January 26, 2018. The State Board of Education will elect a new chair and vice chair at the meeting, as longtime chairman Mr. Fielding Rolston concludes his tenure with the State Board of Education after more than two decades of service. Ms. Allison Chancey, the board member from District 3, is also retiring from the State Board of Education.

WHERE: Cordell Hull Building, House Hearing Room 2
WHEN: January 25 from 12:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., January 26 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
The State Board of Education will hear from the State Board staff and the TennesseeDepartment of Education at the Thursday workshop on various topics ranging from the role of education in the future of the workforce, updates on Read to be Ready and Commissioner Candice McQueen’s presentation on the TN Succeeds Strategic Plan. The agenda for the Thursday workshop is posted on the State Board of Education website here. The workshop will be held at the House Hearing Room 2 in the Cordell Hull Building from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST. The workshop will be livestreamed here. Prior to Thursday’s workshop, members of the State Board of Education will visit Overton High School. Board members will hear a panel discussion about Overton High School’s healthcare academy from students, instructors and healthcare professionals from St. Thomas Hospital.
The State Board of Education will hold the voting portion of the quarterly meeting on Friday, January 26, 2018. Board members will hear items on both first and final reading. The board meeting will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CST at House Hearing Room 2 in the Cordell Hull building. The meeting will be livestreamed here for those unable to attend.
