It’s Not Just a Boat Fire

Overview:

Today’s fire service is faced with multiple scenarios as we respond to emergencies. One of the most dangerous we can respond to is incidents around water. Whether dealing with a boat or marina that is involved in fire, the high risk and low frequency of these events makes situational awareness, accountability, and tactical knowledge paramount. The “It’s Not Just a Boat Fire” class covers identification of hazards associated with marine based firefighting, PPE limitations, marina construction, fire types, suppression tactics
and the environmental concerns that are associated with structural based firefighters working in the marine environment. The class is designed to give firefighters the needed information to perform and make decisions safely during these types of fire events.
