Farm Summer Camp

NASHVILLE – Are you looking for fun, affordable, and memorable activities for your children once the school year is over? Farm summer camps may be the perfect solution for a fun-filled and stress-free summer — for all of your family.

Tennessee’s on-farm summer camps give children the opportunity to trade classrooms and daycare walls for open pastures and barn stalls. Every farm is unique, and so are the camps they offer. However, you can guarantee that all will provide memorable experiences enjoying the outdoors all summer long.

“Our summer camp provides children a safe space to grow, develop imagination, and explore the natural beauty of the farm and forest,” Lauren Palmer with Bloomsbury Farms in Rutherford County said. “We support and encourage curiosity, creativity, community, and the joy of cultivation.”

Depending on the farm, a camp might offer free-play, including time wading in creeks, catching bugs, and daily picnics. Others are more structured, with an aim to educate campers about subjects like photosynthesis and archeology through farm-related activities.

“Our camps are focused around horses and farm life,” said Natalie Young, manager for A Tennessee Guest Ranch in Bledsoe County. “Campers can experience daily farm activities from collecting eggs to feeding livestock and, of course, daily horseback riding sessions.”

Most of Tennessee’s on-farm summer camps are day camps, so finding a farm close enough for daily travel is important.
