NASHVILLE – Building upon a professional and personal background in agriculture, Jessie Campbell has been appointed East Tennessee Public Affairs Coordinator for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture.

“Our primary goal is to better serve our stakeholders and the citizens of our state,” Commissioner of Agriculture Jai Templeton said. “Jessie has a strong knowledge of and love for agriculture. Combined with her professional experience and ability to connect with others, I am confident she will be a valuable resource for the farming and non-farming public of East Tennessee.”

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) has three regional public affairs coordinators to represent the three grand divisions of the state. Campbell will serve as the primary point of contact for the public and facilitate outreach activities in East Tennessee. She is tasked with building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and community leaders, identifying opportunities for TDA to further engage with counties, representing the department at a multitude of events and activities, and promoting the programs and services offered by TDA.

Campbell joins the department following two years as the development coordinator for the Tennessee Future Farmers of America (FFA) Foundation. In that role, Campbell’s leadership, creativity and public engagement contributed to an increase in fundraising, sponsorship and social media participation. Furthermore, she gained extensive experience in program development, promotion and facilitation.

Campbell grew up on a farm in Sweetwater, Tenn. and is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a degree in Agriculture. She is nearing completion of her masters in Agricultural Communications and Leadership. Active in her community, Campbell is a member of the Rotary Club of Cookeville and the Knoxville Chamber Agribusiness Committee. She can be reached at jessie.campbell@tn.gov.
