In recognition of National Weights and Measures Week, TDA is highlighting the role exact measurements play in protecting consumers and ensuring fairness in Tennessee’s marketplace. Celebrated annually March 1–7 to commemorate the signing of the first U.S. weights and measures law in 1799, this year’s theme — “We Measure What Matters” — underscores how accurate measurement supports trust, equity and confidence in every commercial transaction.

The media and public are invited to join the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry and local partners to celebrate the 151st Tennessee Arbor Day. The event will be held in Clarksville, Tenn. on March 6, 2026, at 1 p.m. Central time.

A multistate team of forestry specialists will mobilize to evaluate tree damage and guide recovery efforts following Winter Storm Fern, which caused widespread damage to the region’s urban canopy in January. The Urban Forest Strike Team will deploy in Davidson County March 2-8.

As fair and show season approaches, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) Animal Health Division launched the “Know Before You Show” campaign to remind livestock exhibitors, families and fair and exposition managers that simple biosecurity steps can prevent the spread of disease and protect Tennessee’s livestock industry.

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) will open the 2026 commercial pesticide applicator certification renewal period on Feb. 23, 2026. Commercial pesticide applicators must maintain active certification to legally apply pesticides and operate their businesses in Tennessee. Certification renewal is entirely based on earning the required number of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) during the current three-year cycle.

The Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) announced the recipients of the final round of funding through the Tennessee Forestry, Agriculture, and Rural Markets (FARM) cost-share program. A total of 27 Tennessee agricultural and forestry projects were selected in this final cycle of awards.

Two Tennessee agricultural businesses have been selected to receive funding through the AgTrack Cost Share Fund in the latest funding round. Their projects will advance rural and urban economic progress by supporting strategic investments in the state’s agricultural sector.
