Annual Ag Crime Unit Investigations

Ag Crime Caseload 2010-2018

The Agricultural Crime Unit (ACU) investigates more than 200 cases per year.

  • Animal Health cases comprise 21% of the ACU caseload and include matters related to:  transport of animals without proper health papers; dead animal disposal; livestock running at large; livestock welfare or cruelty; and livestock theft.   
  • Forestry cases comprise 70% of the ACU caseload and include matters related to:  vandalism or trespass of state forests; burning without a permit; arson; wildland fire; hay and barn fires; and timber theft.
  • Other Ag cases comprise 9% of the ACU caseload and include matters related to:  general public safety; equipment and crop theft; and unlicensed operation or violations by regulated businesses, e.g. food and dairy manufacturers, pesticide applicators, hemp producers etc.
