Q. Are school districts allowed to seek reimbursement for services outside of an IEP to include services such as services provided by a school nurse and/or school based clinics?

A. This is a decision each Managed Care Organization (MCO) makes. MCOs may contract with providers needed in order to meet network adequacy requirements. (Services provided by RNs or LPNs are not covered directly.)

Q. Do school districts who bill for medically necessary services often have to go through the appeal process for OT, PT or ST services?

A. This could vary across MCOs. MCOs may have different prior approval requirements.
