EFS Applications Closed for 2026-27 School Year

The EFS application window closed on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 4:00 PM CT.

  

How to Apply

Applications can be submitted in the following ways:

  • Online: The preferred method of submission is via the online application in the EFS portal. Parents or guardians will need an internet connection, an active email, and can access the application via smart phone or computer.
  • In person: Paper applications can be requested by emailing EFS.Questions@tn.gov and dropped off in person at the Tennessee Department of Education located in Andrew Johnson Tower at 710 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, TN 37243. Applications should be in an envelope and can be left with the front desk staff.
  • By mail: Paper applications can be requested by emailing EFS.Questions@tn.gov. Applications can be mailed to the Tennessee Department of Education at the following address:

Please be advised that applications are processed by priority category and in the order in which they are received by the online application system. Paper applications submitted in person or sent via mail will be entered into the online application system as soon as they are received by the department.

  • Student is a resident of Tennessee who is entitled to attend a public school in any of the grades kindergarten through twelve (K-12).
  • Student is lawfully present in the United States.
