NASHVILLE – Death row inmate Edmund Zagorski has decided to forgo a final meal.

NASHVILLE – In accordance with protocol, inmate Edmund G. Zagorski #102839 was moved to death watch this morning shortly after midnight.

NASHVILLE – Today the American Correctional Association (ACA) announced Tennessee Department of Correction Commissioner Tony Parker as President-Elect of this nearly 150 year old organization.

JOHNSON CITY – The Tennessee Department of Correction’s “Operation Clean Up” continued today at the Johnson City Probation and Parole field office. Officers and Special Agents with TDOC, along with officers from the Johnson City Police Department, conducted intensive vehicle searches in the parking lot of the field office. Today’s operation resulted in the search of over 50 vehicles.

PIKEVILLE – Earlier today the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex (BCCX) held its annual Resource Summit. Over 300 offenders, all within one year of release, participated in the event, networking and receiving information from over 20 community and regionally based organizations.

NASHVILLE–Thursday, the Tennessee Department of Correction’s Crisis Intervention team (CIT) was awarded the 2018 Model Project Award by the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

JOHNSON CITY – Earlier today the Johnson City Day Reporting Center (DRC) held its Fourth Annual ‘Day of H.O.P.E.: Helping Others Promote Education’ event. The event served as an educational seminar for the family and friends of those currently enrolled in the DRC program. Topics included understanding addiction and how loved ones can provide support and assistance to those suffering from addiction.

NASHVILLE – Last week the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) graduated 23 employees from the Crisis Intervention Team Training (CIT) program. This is the department’s 7th class to complete the training with graduates representing five TDOC facilities and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO).

TULLAHOMA –After weeks of training, the Tennessee Department of Correction welcomed a new class of Correctional Officers into the workforce today. The Tennessee Correction Academy graduated 59 people from our Basic Correctional Officers Training program.

NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is pleased to announce that one of the Middle Tennessee facilities recently passed their American Correctional Association (ACA) audit with high marks. Tennessee Prison for Women (TPFW) recently passed the facilities’ ACA audit thus completing a key step to earning reaccreditation.

HENNING - The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is pleased to announce that one of the West Tennessee facilities recently passed their American Correctional Association (ACA) audit with high marks. The West Tennessee State Penitentiary (WTSP) which also houses the Women’s Therapeutic Residential Center (WTRC) passed the ACA’s audit this week thus completing a key step to earning reaccreditation.

WARTBURG – Today the Morgan County Grand Jury has returned 8 indictments against inmate Robert Fusco and several co-defendants. The indictments stem from lengthy investigation into an attempt by Fusco to introduce contraband into the Morgan County Correctional Complex.

RIPLEY – On Friday, September 14, 2018 the Tennessee Department of Correction welcomed the next generation of correctional officers into our workforce. The ceremony consisted of 14 Correctional Officers who will be serving our locations in West Tennessee at Northwest Correctional Complex (NWCX) in Tiptonville, Tennessee and West Tennessee State Penitentiary (WTSP) in Henning, Tennessee.
