Pollution Prevention (P2) Program
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) Pollution Prevention (P2) Program is designed to provide P2 technical assistance and training to the regulated community. TDEC’s P2 program is partially funded through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Pollution Prevention Grant and has three main components which include:
- Technical Assistance and Training
- Tennessee Sustainable Spirits
- Tennessee Green Star Partnership
Technical assistance and training provided under TDEC’s P2 program during 2022 to 2024 Federal fiscal years focused on industry in Tennessee that report releases to EPA via the Toxic Release Inventory, with specific emphasis on chemical, food, and beverage manufacturers.
The TDEC P2 Program, through the Office of Sustainable Practices Business Team, recently put out an industry survey that resulted in 54 responses with 14 interested in technical assistance with finding beneficial reuses of process waste.
