Becoming An Outdoors Woman (BOW)
Since 1991, the TWRA has been encouraging women to get outdoors through the Becoming An Outdoors Woman (BOW) program. This program exists in all 50 states and several Canadian provinces, with many offering multiple opportunities.
BOW is designed for women who are interested in learning outdoor skills that are new to the outdoors. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency hosts several BOW events every year.
Our events include canoe trips, muzzleloader workshops, basic archery, basic firearms, reading the woods, ATV operation, Dutch oven cooking, fly-fishing, nature photography, and much, much more. There are one-day workshops and an entire weekend workshop filled with classes and activities every aspiring outdoors-woman will enjoy.
Registration for the workshop is on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, two weeks' priority will be given to first-time participants. The cost of the workshop will include meals and camping,
For additional information, contact Donald Hosse, TWRA Wildlife Education Program Coordinator, at Don.Hosse@tn.gov or (615) 781-6541.
Events are held throughout the year. Please check back closer to spring for dates for the one day workshops.
The weekend long event is the first weekend of June each year. Registration will open in the spring for all events.
