Memphis Urban Area Regional ITS Architecture and Deployment Plan
Overview
The Memphis Urban Area Regional ITS Architecture and Deployment Plan is a long-range strategy for deploying, integrating, and operating Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) within the Memphis Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Region.
The plan was developed by:
- Memphis Urban Area MPO (lead agency)
- Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT)
Regional Boundaries
The ITS Architecture covers the following geographic areas:
- Shelby County, Tennessee
- DeSoto County, Mississippi
- Western portion of Fayette County, Tennessee
- Northwestern portion of Marshall County, Mississippi
Additional Coverage
The plan also accounts for TDOT’s SmartWay ITS deployments in the following locations:
- Interstate 40 (I‑40) in Crittenden County, Arkansas
- Interstate 55 (I‑55) in Crittenden County, ArkansasPrepared in coordination with regional and state transportation partners.
