Overview of the Plan

The Jackson Regional ITS Architecture and Deployment Plan provides a long-term strategy for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

The plan guides how ITS will develop, integrate, and operate throughout the Jackson Region.

Planning Leadership and Stakeholders

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) led the plan’s development with the Jackson Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).

The planning process included representatives from several transportation and safety agencies:

• Traffic agencies
• Transit agencies
• Emergency management agencies
• Public safety agencies
• Local, state, and federal partners

Regional Description

The Jackson Region includes all of Madison County in southwestern Tennessee.

Stakeholder Engagement and Timeline

TDOT gathered information through a stakeholder workshop and interviews with participating agencies.

• Stakeholder activities occurred in 2014.
• The plan was completed in 2015.
