Bristol Regional Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Architecture and Deployment Plan
The Bristol Regional ITS Architecture and Deployment Plan is a long‑range guide for how Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are deployed, integrated, and operated in the Bristol region. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) led the most recent update to the plan in coordination with the Bristol Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). This update was completed in the spring of 2017.
Regional Boundaries
The boundaries for the Bristol Regional ITS Architecture cover:
• Much of the eastern half of Sullivan County, Tennessee
• The independent city of Bristol, Virginia
• Portions of central Washington County, VirginiaStakeholder InvolvementStakeholders included representatives from:• Traffic operations
• Transit agencies
• Emergency management
• Public safety
• Local, state, and federal agencies
To gather input, the project team had held two stakeholder workshops and conducted several interviews with agency partners.
