NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Approximately 110 Soldiers from the Tennessee Army National Guard’s 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, headquartered in Knoxville, returned to Smyrna’s Volunteer Training Site on Thursday, January 23, following a nine-month long deployment as part of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Poland.

More than 100 Soldiers assigned to the unit have been training for over one year in preparation for their year-long deployment to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay.

Grillo, an Athens native and soldier with the 1176th Transportation Company, was awarded the Ribbon for Valor for exceptional meritorious heroism.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – More than 100 personnel of the Tennessee National Guard’s 1-230th Assault Helicopter Battalion, headquartered in Tullahoma, are scheduled to return from their overseas deployment to Kosovo on July 17 at approximately 1:15 pm CST to the Volunteer Training Site-Smyrna. The 1-230th AHB has been at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo for the last nine months as part of Kosovo Force – KFOR, a NATO led mission that builds peace and maintains stability in the area.

Shaken Fury is a national-level emergency response and recovery exercise hosted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency that will take place in various locations throughout the Southeastern United States.
