NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee National Guard’s Infectious Disease Team is working hard to improve health procedures in at-risk facilities throughout Tennessee.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Soldiers and Airmen with the Tennessee National Guard, who are working diligently alongside Tennessee’s Department of Health, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, and various other state and local agencies have successfully administered over 300,000 COVID-19 tests since March.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In March, Governor Bill Lee authorized the activation of the Tennessee National Guard to assist with the fight against COVID-19. Since then, the Guard has been teaming up with the Department of Health and various other state and local agencies to combat COVID-19 in communities throughout the state. Establishing Remote Assessment Sites to test citizens and determine if they have been infected with COVID-19, over 2,100,000 tests have been administered at these locations, and the Tennessee National Guard administered more than 300,000 of those tests.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Since March 26, Soldiers and Airmen with the Tennessee National Guard have been working diligently alongside Tennessee’s Department of Health, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, and various other state and local agencies to combat the spread of COVID-19. Their main focus, to test as many citizens as possible.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In the early morning hours of March 3, a storm system moved through the state of Tennessee which produced deadly tornadoes killing 24 people, damaging over 1,500 structures and leaving over 80,000 Tennesseans without power across four counties.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Soldiers and Airmen from the Tennessee National Guard are set to return home from Washington D.C., June 9.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Gov. Bill Lee has authorized to deploy elements of the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Tennessee National Guard and provide support to the Washington D.C. National Guard. The deployment is a result of a request from Gen. Joseph Lengyel, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, to the Tennessee Military Department on Monday evening.

SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. – At approximately 10:25 CST, while responding to wildfires in East Tennessee, one UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter experienced engine failure, resulting in an emergency landing southwest of Wears Valley, March 31. All four crewmembers are safe, and currently, no injuries reported. The aircraft incurred minor damages upon landing.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Starting on March 10, Soldiers and Airmen from the Tennessee National Guard began assisting Putnam County with cleaning up massive amounts of debris, damaged property, and trash left in the wake of an EF-4 tornado that struck the area in the early morning hours of March 3.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – More than 160 Tennessee National Guardsmen are aiding communities that were most impacted after multiple tornadoes ravaged central Tennessee overnight March 2.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Soldiers and Airmen from the Tennessee National Guard have been activated in response to the EF3 tornado that struck Davidson, Wilson, and Putnam counties in the early morning of March 3.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Approximately 110 Soldiers from the Tennessee Army National Guard’s 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, headquartered in Knoxville, returned to Smyrna’s Volunteer Training Site on Thursday, January 23, following a nine-month long deployment as part of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Poland.

MCGHEE-TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. – At approximately 11:15 a.m. EST today, McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base went into lockdown procedures due to reports of a suspicious person on base.
