Health Hotlines
The Department of Health operates a number of toll-free hotlines to provide information about the following topics and services:
HIV/STD Hotline: 1-800-525-2437(within TN only)
If you have questions or concerns regarding HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases you can call the HIV/STD Hotline. The Hotline is staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST with counselors trained to provide information about the sexually transmitted disease, how it is transmitted, and where you can get tested.
Environmental Hotline: 1-800-404-3006 (toll free)

Persons may call with questions or concerns about any environmental pollution or chemical exposures they think may be affecting their health.
Health Access Hotline: 1-800-659-3010
The Health Access Hotline is available to provide information about the Health Access Incentive Program to interested parties or potential applicants. The program provides financial incentives for primary care providers who agree to practice in medically underserved areas of Tennessee. Callers may also receive information about rural health issues, the Department's annual medical recruitment fair, and the National Health Service Corps.
Health Related Boards Complaint Hotline: 1-800-852-2187
Health Related Boards Investigations can provide you with information about how to file a complaint against a health care professional licensed in the State of Tennessee or advise you if any previous disciplinary actions have been taken against a licensee. State law prohibits the release of information concerning any investigation that did not result in disciplinary action.
Health Care Facilities Complaint Hotline: 1-877-287-0010
Licensed and/or Certified Health Facilities:
When a care problem is experienced with a specific licensed and/or certified health care facility in Tennessee, you can contact the Office of Health Care Facilities complaint intake hotline at any time to leave a message regarding your concerns. If you leave your contact information your call will be returned by medically trained staff from the unit during normal business hours. If you wish to speak with someone directly, the hotline is manned from 8:00 – 4:30 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday except holidays. State law prohibits the release of information concerning any facility complaint investigation that did not result in disciplinary action, with the exception of nursing home investigation results. Nursing home inspection results are posted on the Office’s website and State facility disciplinary actions are found on the Facilities Directories page.
Home Health Agency Complaint Hotline: 1-800-541-7367 (within TN only)
The Office of Health Care Facilities manages the federally required Home Health Agency Complaint Hotline. Any individual who may have concerns over the care they have received or a family member may have received from a Home Health Agency in Tennessee can call this hotline to register their complaint(s).
Oak Ridge Health Studies Hotline: 1-800-404-3006
This hotline is available nationwide for confidential reporting to the Tennessee Department of Health about issues pertaining to the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge Health Studies Project. The hotline also allows callers to request copies of published reports and to inquire about future meeting dates of the Oak Ridge Health Agreement Steering Panel.
Teen Pregnancy Info Clearinghouse: 1-877-461-8277 (within TN only)
The Teen Pregnancy Information Clearinghouse serves as a central source of information on teen pregnancy statistics, resource materials, and services. Also available is information on teen pregnancy programs in the state and upcoming conferences and workshops.

The Family Assistance Service Center is available weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. TennCare’s automated Voice Response System is available around-the-clock. Operators provide information on eligibility, TennCare Health Plans, applications, and address changes.

Tennessee Redline: 1-800-889-9789
The Tennessee Redline is a toll-free telephone service coordinated by the Tennessee Association of Alcohol, Drug and other Addiction Services, under the supervision of the Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities’ Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services. Information specialists are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer questions and provide information and referrals on alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and gambling.
Traumatic Brain Injury Hotline: 1-800-882-0611
The Traumatic Brain Injury Hotline provides information on traumatic brain injury data and Tennessee's Traumatic Brain Injury Program. Staff are available to respond to questions, make referrals, or provide educational information.
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Hotline: 1-800-DIAL-WIC (342-5942)
The WIC Hotline provides information on the WIC nutrition program services and assistance in locating a WIC clinic site. The hotline also allows WIC participants to report problems they have experienced with the program.
COVID-19 Hotline: 615-770-6940
If you have questions regarding COVID-19 you can call the Tennessee Department of Health's COVID-19 Hotline. The Hotline is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm CT. Trained public health professionals connect callers with free COVID-19 resources, help determine isolation timelines, and much more.
