Career Coaches

Career Coaches in Tennessee are professionals who help students identify and achieve their career and postsecondary goals through personalized advising, support, and strategic planning. An essential aspect of a career coach’s responsibilities is to provide guidance to students in planning their academic pathways through the High School & Beyond Plan, ensuring that their course selections are strategically aligned with future aspirations and credentialing requirements.   Career Coaches assist students with essential academic and career-related skills such as interpreting career assessments, building résumés, preparing for interviews, and developing soft skills. By offering objective feedback and tailored advice, Career Coaches empower students to make informed decisions, overcome barriers, and gain confidence in their abilities and aspirations.

Career Coaches work with students one-on-one, in small groups, and in larger group settings to provide meaningful, individualized support. These advising professionals are well-versed in graduation requirements, postsecondary pathways, and workforce development trends. With this knowledge, they tailor discussions to each student’s needs and organize opportunities that promote career exploration, skill development, and long-term success. Career Coaches also connect students to work-based learning experiences and Early Postsecondary Opportunities (EPSOs) that align with their future goals, ensuring that every student has access to the tools and experiences necessary for a successful transition beyond high school.
