Arts, Entertainment, and Design
In Tennessee, the Arts, Entertainment, and Design career cluster prepares students for exciting careers in creative industries that are rapidly expanding across the state. From digital media and film production to fashion and interior environments, this cluster supports a growing demand for innovative professionals who combine artistic vision with technical expertise. As Tennessee continues to attract film projects, grow its creative economy, and expand tourism, entertainment, and design-related industries, there is a critical need for a skilled workforce that can meet the evolving demands of these sectors. This career cluster includes four key programs of study: Digital Arts & Design, Audio/Visual Production, Fashion Design, and Interior Design, each offering students opportunities to explore high-wage, high-skill careers that contribute to Tennessee’s cultural and economic vitality.
The Digital Arts & Design program equips students with skills in graphic design, illustration, photography, and digital media production, responding to increased demand for visual content in marketing, entertainment, and digital communication. The Audio/Visual Production program focuses on technical and creative aspects of media production, including camera operation, editing, lighting, and sound design skills highly sought after in film, broadcasting, live events, and corporate media. The Fashion Design program introduces students to garment construction, textile science, and design principles, helping them develop the creative and entrepreneurial skills needed to contribute to Tennessee’s growing fashion industry. Lastly, the Interior Design program prepares students to create functional, aesthetic spaces by integrating design theory, architecture, and environmental awareness skills in demand across residential, commercial, and hospitality design markets. Together, these programs offer students practical, hands-on experience while fostering creativity, problem-solving, and innovation essential traits for success in Tennessee’s thriving arts and design landscape.
