Current Budget Overviews & Presentations
Agency budget requests are submitted to Finance and Administration, usually by October 1. During October and November, the Governor meets with the departments and agencies to hear their budget proposals for the following fiscal year.
After hearing from departments and agencies, the Governor prepares the fiscal proposal and presents it to the General Assembly by February 1, or March 1 for the first year of a governor's term, unless otherwise authorized by the General Assembly.
The General Assembly reviews and holds public hearings on the budget recommendations, including amendments introduced during the legislative session, with the goal of passing a balanced budget before the fiscal year begins on July 1 of each year.
