Site Directions:   

Luper Mountain:  From I40, take exit 338 and turn south on Westel Road, in 0.5 miles, turn right onto Pig Path Road, drive 1.6 miles then turn right onto Millstone Mtn Road, drive 1.5 miles then turn left to stay on Millstone Mtn Road, continue on Millstone Mtn Road for 3.7 miles and take a right onto a private road (with an easement for access; 35.93146,-84.80519). The road will become gravel/dirt, and you will follow it until you reach the WMA.

Luper Mountain Lonestar Unit: The only legal access to the Lonestar Unit currently is from Hebbertsburg Rd. (35.93335,-84.86146) and is only possible with ATV or SXS. From I-40, take the Crab Orchard Exit # 329. Turn North onto Market St., then turn left onto HWY 70 for 0.3 miles, then turn right onto Hebbertsburg Rd. for 2 miles. The parking/access from the above coordinates will be on your right.

Description: Luper Mtn Wildlife Management Area is a 5,600-acre property located in Cumberland County, Tennessee. Much of the WMA property is comprised of steep slopes with both young and mature hardwood forest growth.  Luper Mountain is part of the TN SWAP, Catoosa / Emory River Conservation Opportunity Area (COA).


Regulations & Dates

Special Use - Hooved animal riding, bicycling, and Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) use permitted only by individuals possessing a valid hunting and fishing license and WMA permit or a High Impact Habitat Conservation Permit.  Closed to all non-hunting activities during big game hunts. Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV) permits from the 4th Saturday in August through the 2nd Sunday in June, except during gate closure period.

Big Game, Small Game, and Trapping Same as statewide seasons except as noted. Dogs are not permitted during the spring squirrel season.

Deer - Same as statewide deer season. Closed to antlerless deer hunting during the deer gun season.

Bear - Sept. 27 – Oct. 24, 2025. Archery only.  See the Bear page for details.

Dog training - Sept. 1, 2025 - March 15, 2026.

Lonestar Mountain Unit

Big Game, Small Game, and Trapping - Same as statewide seasons except as noted. Dogs are not permitted during the spring squirrel season.
