Current crop conditions for 2023.

Bogota Pool 1--Non Draw Site

Location/Directions: N 36.144 W 89.437   |  Interactive map 

Bogota WMA. Traveling North on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 7 miles, turn left on the first gravel road after crossing the Obion River.

Pool 1 lies beyond the red gate which will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during waterfowl season.

Bogota Pool 2

Location/Directions: N 36.149  W 89.440  |  Interactive Map

CAUTION:  Drop off in the south end of the pool.  WATER IS OVER WADERS.

Bogota WMA. Traveling North on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 7 miles, turn left on the second gravel road (Bledsoe Rd) after crossing the Obion River.

Pool 2 will be on the left in 0.3 Miles.

Size: 13 Acres

Food: 5.4 acres of fair quality corn, 7.6 acres of excellent quality moist soil plants as of 7/5/2023.

Cover: Standing corn, willow trees along the south and western edge

Bogota Pool 4

Bogota WMA. Travel north on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 8 miles. Turn left on Hwy. 103 and travel about a mile. Turn left onto Barbwire Rd. follow Barbwire for 0.9 miles, turn left, and proceed through the red gate for 0.3 miles.

Pool 4 will be on the right.

Size: 15 acres

Food: 7.78 acres of fair-quality corn, 6 acres of good-quality moist soil plants, and 1.22 acres of millet to be planted as of 7/5/2023.

Cover: Willow trees on the north levee, old cinder block blind in the center of pool.   The west side of the unit has a created oxbow with willows along the edge that are tall enough to provide hunting cover.

Bogota Pool 7

Bogota WMA. Travel north on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 8 miles. Turn left on Hwy. 103 and travel about a mile. Turn left onto Barbwire Rd. for 1.6 miles. At the T make a left. Proceed through the red gate, Pool 7 will be on your right in 300 yards.

Size: 25 Acres

Food: 10.06 acres of fair quality corn on the east side of the pool and 8.94 acres of moist soil plants, 6 acres of millet to be planted as of 7/5/2023.

Cover: Corn on the east side of pool and willow trees on the west side of pool.

Bogota Pool 12

Bogota WMA. Travel north on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 8 miles. Turn left on Hwy. 103 and travel about a mile. Turn left onto Barbwire Rd. Travel approximately 2.3 miles, until you see pool 12 and Pool 14 signs.   

Turn Right on Sycamore Rd., in 400 yards make a left on a gravel Rd. (Look for pool 12 signs).  The parking area for Pool 12 will be on the left, approx. 400 yards from Sycamore Rd. The pool is directly behind the parking area.

Size: 40 acres

Food: 13.57 acres of fair-quality corn, 4.43 acres of moist-soil plants, and 22 acres of harvested beans as of 7/5/2023.

Cover: Standing corn, willows in the southwest corner, one layout mound - location: Center of pool GPS: N 36.125 W 89.465

Bogota Pool 14

Bogota WMA. Travel north on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 8 miles. Turn left on Hwy. 103 and travel about a mile. Turn left onto Barbwire Rd. and travel approximately 2.3 miles.

Turn Right on Sycamore Rd., in 400 yards make a left on a gravel road. (Look for pool 14 signs). The road will dead-end at Pool 14.

Size: 15 acres

Food: 8.52 acres of fair quality corn and 6.48 acres of good quality moist soils as of 7/5/2023.

Cover: Willows near the south levee, an island of Willows and Cottonwood trees just north of the center of the pool, and a layout mound - Location: Center of the pool, GPS: N 36.120 W 89.470

Bogota Pool 21

Bogota WMA. Travel north on HWY 78 from Dyersburg approximately 8 miles. Turn left on Hwy. 103. Turn onto Barbwire Rd. for 1.6 miles. At the T make a right on Spence Spur Rd.

Pool 21 will be on your left in 0.8 miles. The parking area for Pool 21 will be the northeast corner of the pool or along the county roads which borders the pool on the north and east sides. The county road along the eastern boundary may not be passable during wet weather.

Size: 50 Acres

Food: 31.91 Acres of fair quality corn, and 15.09 acres of good quality moist-soil plants, 3 acres of millets to be planted as of 7/5/2023.

Cover: Standing corn, two Willow patches near the south-central portion of the pool, one layout mound - Location: Center of the pool- GPS: N 36.134 W 89.481

Thorny Cypress Pool  1

Thorny Cypress WMA North Unit:  From Great River Road turn onto Boothspoint Rd. Turn left in 0.5 miles and proceed through the red gate to Pool 1.

Size: Two impoundments totaling 40 acres separated by a gravel road.  Hunters drawn for this pool may hunt both impoundments.

Cover: Standing corn, two layout mounds have been built at the following locations: North Unit N 36.105 W 89.570 and South Unit  N 36.106 W 89.568

Food: 10 acres of good quality corn and 30 acres of good quality moist soil plants as of 7/5/2023.

Thorny Cypress Pool 2

Thorny Cypress WMA North Unit. From Great River Road turn onto Boothspoint Rd. Turn left in 1.1 miles and proceed north a half-mile to the parking area. Follow signs from the parking area to the pool. Pool 2 is approximately 600 yards Northwest of the parking area.

Hunters may walk or use ATV to access the pool.

Size: 70 acres

Food: 20 acres of good quality corn, 30 acres of harvested corn, 10 acres of moist-soil plants, 10 acres of millet to be planted as of 7/5/2023.

Cover:  Standing corn, willow, and cottonwood trees on the south side of the pool, one layout mound - location: N 36.106 W 89.565

Thorny Cypress Pool 3

Thorny Cypress WMA North Unit. From Great River Road turn onto Boothspoint Rd. Turn left in 1.1 miles and proceed north a half-mile to the parking area. Pool 3 is 300 yards west of the parking area.

Hunters may walk or use ATV to access the pool.

Size:  30 Acres

Food: 10.2 acres of good quality corn, 3.8 acres of moist soils, and 16 acres of harvested soybeans as of 7/5/2023.

Cover:  Standing corn, one layout mound - location - Center mound:  N 36.101 W 89.562

Thorny Cypress Pool 4

Thorny Cypress WMA North Unit. From Great River Road turn onto Boothspoint Rd. Turn left in 1.1 miles and proceed north a half-mile to the parking area. Pool 4 is 400 yards east of the parking area. Hunters may walk or use ATVs to access the pool.

Size:  35 acres

Food: 9.7 acres of good quality corn, 25.3 acres of moist-soil plants as of 7/5/2023.

Cover:  Standing corn, 20 ft tall flooded trees in the center of impoundment, short trees in the southeast corner of the pool.

Thorny Cypress Pool 5

Location/Directions: N 36.053 W 89.569 (map)

Thorny Cypress WMA South Unit. Parking area located off of Hwy 104 approximately 300 yards east of Yarbro Rd. Hunters may also access the pool from the Yarbro Road parking area. Hunters may walk or use ATV to access the pool.

Size:  70 acres

Food: 13 acres of good quality corn 15 acres of moist-soil plants, and 42 acres of harvested beans as of 7/5/2023.

Cover:  Standing corn, line of standing willow trees in the Northeast corner, standing willow and cottonwood trees in the south drain, 2 layout mounds located in the following locations - North Mound  N 36.055 W 89.567, South Mound   N 36.054  W 89.568

Thorny Cypress Pool 6

Thorny Cypress WMA South Unit. From Hwy 104 turn North on Yarbro Rd.

The parking area is on the left approximately 400 North of Hwy 104. Pool 6 is 100 yards directly east of the parking area.

Hunters may walk or use ATVs to access the pool. Hunters using ATVs to access the pool must ride along the marked trail on the north side of Pool 6. ATVs may not be used on levees.

Size:  65 acres

Food:  24 acres of good quality corn and 41 acres of moist-soil plant as of 7/5/2023.

Cover:  Standing corn, 2 small areas of standing willows/cottonwoods, 4 layout mounds have been built in the following locations - North Mound N 36.058 W 89.566 West Mound N 36.058 W 89.570, East Mound N 36.058 W 89.564, South Mound   N 36.058 W 89.567

Thorny Cypress Pool 7

Thorny Cypress WMA South Unit. From Hwy 104 turn North on Yarbro Rd. The parking area is on the left approximately 400 yards North of Hwy 104.

Pool 7 is on the east side of Yarbro Rd, 150 yards northwest of the parking area.

Hunters may walk or use ATVs to access the pool. ATVs may not be used on levees.

Size:  25 acres

Food: 6.5 acres of good quality corn and 18.5 acres of moist-soil plants as of 7/5/2023.

Cover:  Standing Corn and 1 layout mound N 36.061 W 89.563

Thorny Cypress Pool 8

Thorny Cypress WMA South Unit: From Hwy 104 turn North on Yarbro Rd, parking area and pool will be on the right in 0.74 miles.

Hunters may walk or use ATVs to access the pool. Hunters using ATVs to access the pool must ride along marked trails on the north or south side of Pool 8. ATVs may not be used on levees.

Size:  40 acres

Caution:  Deep Tractor Ruts marked with a white pipe in the center of the pool possibly over waders.

Food:  15 acres of good quality corn, 25 acres of moist-soil plants as of 7/5/2023.

Cover:  Willows west of pool center, standing corn, two layout mounds have been built in the following locations - North Mound N 36.063 W 89.564, South Mound N 36.063 W 89.563

Thorny Cypress Pool 9

Thorny Cypress WMA South Unit: Parking area located off of Hwy 104. Pool 9 is 0.7 miles northeast of the parking area. 

Pool 9 can be accessed along a levee just south of pool 5 with ATV or by walking.

Size:  50 acres

Food: 34.4 acres of good quality corn and 15.6 acres of moist-soil plants as of 7/5/2023.

Cover:  Standing corn, two layout mounds have been built at the following locations - South Mound   N 36.058 W 89.555 North Mound N 36.056 W 89. 556

Thorny Cypress Pool 10--Non-Draw Site

Thorny Cypress WMA South Unit: Parking area located off of Hwy 104.

Pool 10 is 0.8 miles northeast of the parking area. Can be accessed by walking only.

Pool 10 will only be huntable when overbank flooding occurs from the Obion River

Thorny Cypress Pool 11--Non-Draw Site

Thorny Cypress WMA South Unit: From Hwy 104, turn North on Yarbro Rd.

The parking area is on the left-hand side of Yarbro Rd. north of Hwy 104. Pool 11 is west of Yarbro Rd.

No ATVs are allowed. Walk in the area only.

Thorny Cypress Pool 12--Non-Draw Site

Location/Directions: N 36.094 W 89.549 (map)

Thorny Cypress WMA North Unit: From Great River Rd, turn onto Boothspoint Rd.

Pool 12 begins on the north side of the road, 1.3 miles from Great River Rd. and continues to the end of Boothspoint Rd.

Waterfowl hunters may walk or use ATVs to access the pool. ATVs can only access pool 12 by designated trail. You cannot access it between pools 3 and 4.
