Project Summary
This project will require the removal of existing bridges and the replacement with wider proposed bridges consisting of five (5) lanes (four (4) eleven (11) foot travel lanes and one (1) eleven (11) foot center turn lane), as well as a sixteen (16) foot shoulder on the northside and thirteen (13) foot shoulder on the south side. Additional project details include:
- Projects will be let as a single contract to minimize impacts to the public due to traffic control.
- Existing grade will be maintained on both bridges.
- Traffic is to remain open for the duration of projects.
- Offset basin needs to be constructed to offset fill volumes within the Old Hickory Lake reservoir. Basin located near East Fork bridge down N Blue Jay Way (near Rotary Park).
Major Issues & Challenges
PIN 124721.00 (East Fork Station Camp Creek)
- No haul roads allowed in the stream.
- Existing piers need to be removed down to lakebed per USACE requirements.
- Offset basin construction has rock that needs to be removed. Blasting not allowed within 50’ of stream bank.
- Traffic control will have an impact on the motoring public for long durations.
- No blasting allowed within channel


124722.00 (West Fork Station Camp Creek)
- West Fork bridge is located on a peninsula crossing Old Hickory Lake (West Fork Station Camp Creek so working area is tight.
- Additional impacts to Old Hickory Lake are not permittable due to restrictions from the United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE).
- No haul roads allowed in the stream.
- Existing piers need to be removed down to lakebed per USACE requirements. Channel on West Fork Station Camp Creek is deep.
- Traffic control will have an impact on the motoring public for long durations.
- No blasting allowed within channel
