The proposed project will extend SR-449 in Sevier County from Robert Henderson Road to State Route 66 (Winfield-Dunn Parkway). The project length is approximately 4.4 miles. The proposed typical section included four lanes (two in each direction), a raised median with median cuts at selected locations, and a ten-foot shared use path on one side. Curb and gutter is proposed adjacent to the shared use path with a ditch detail on the other side.

Major Issues & Challenges

  • Site Access
  • Construction sequencing
  • Large cuts and fills
  • Construction of 4 bridges
    • Allensville Road (2 bridges)
    • Kellum Creek Road (2 bridges)
  • Earthwork
    • Overall, project is balanced (+/-)
    • Project is a ‘waste’ job at one end and a ‘borrow’ job at the other
