101651.05 Project Location

Project Summary/Scope of Work

The project consists of staged construction including grade, drain, base, pave, signal, lighting, ITS, greenway, retaining wall, noise walls, and bridge work. The project also includes completing tie-ins at the existing SR-115 at Tyson Blvd and the proposed interchange at Singleton Station Road.

Areas and Questions to be Discussed

Maintaining ingress/egress for key stakeholders (workers entrance and passengers):

  • Amazon has it’s single access point right at the bridge on Singleton Station (Sta. 129+81.30)
  • The entrance and exit for the airport will switch overnight between phase 1B and 2A. The workers will still use the workers’ entrance off existing Alcoa highway (Sta. 19+74.74)
  • Arconic office entrance at Wright C in phase 1A and 1B
  • MOT on Singleton Station road, SB collector, and Vista Road access.

Tie-in points from the newly constructed Alcoa and existing:

  • Thoughts on the challenge of dealing with MOT around Singleton Station Road, SB collector, and access for Vista Road.

Discussion and understanding for the transition between traffic phasing and how it affects the motorist:

  • Transitioning between phase 2A and 2B will be a challenge.  What challenges do you think pose the greatest issue?
  • Thoughts on the challenge of dealing with Hunt Ramp B construction phasing and realignment while maintaining traffic.

Installation of proposed storm water along North end of the project including detention  pond and outfall into Str-8.

Traffic control will be a unique challenge on this project. The current Alcoa Highway project (101651.04) is building out the “off alignment” sections of the relocated highway, and this project will create the connections/interchanges to connect the new alignment to existing SR-115. The concept is to construct this project in such a way to allow us to quickly turn traffic onto the new alignment all at once (for the most part) on a weekend. The traffic control/construction phasing for this project will need to be closely analyzed.

The proposed airport ramps will need to match grades with existing SR-115 for the traffic control phasing to work.

What is an appropriate project time to project completion?

Is there adequate working room and staging areas, especially near active roadways (I-140 and existing SR-115)?

Do you have any innovative ideas that would help reduce project costs, time to completion, or increase safety?
