The Bureau of Planning oversees all planning and multimodal functions of the Department including supporting communities in the delivery of local programs projects. Core functions of the Bureau include long range planning, corridor and subarea planning, metropolitan and rural planning, freight planning, rail rehabilitation, inspection, and oversight, public transportation program management and technical assistance, aviation program management, oversight, & planning and design services, bicycling & pedestrian planning and infrastructure, local programs project delivery, research, traffic data collection and analysis, GIS and data analytics, and highway beautification.
