Tennessee Technology Access Program (TTAP) Statewide Advisory Council (SAC)

The Tennessee Technology Access Program (TTAP) is a statewide program designed to increase access to, and acquisition of, assistive technology devices and services. Through its four core programs: Information and Assistance, Device Demonstration, Device Loan, and Device Reutilization, TTAP and a network of assistive technology centers help people with disabilities and their families find and get the tools that they need to live independent, productive lives where and how they choose.

Assistive Technology is any piece of equipment or product used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.

The TTAP statewide advisory council is a group of individuals whose input is valuable to ensure that representatives from various stakeholder groups have an opportunity to participate in, evaluate the effectiveness of, and provide feedback about all TTAP programs.

Meetings

TTAP meets four (4) times a year (three (3) virtual and one (1) in-person). Meetings are open to the public except for the executive meetings.

This meeting is designated as an in-person only meeting.

Council Members

Council members are appointed by the Department of Human Services (DHS) Commissioner.  When making appointments, the Commissioner must consider individuals representing a broad range of individuals with disabilities and required agencies who serve individuals with disabilities (21st Century Assistive Technology Act).  The majority of members must be individuals with disabilities.

The SAC provides guidance to the TTAP for the evaluation programs and delivering assistive technology devices and services. The council is geographically representative of the state and reflects the diversity of Tennessee with respect to race, ethnicity, types of disabilities, and users of various assistive technology (AT).
