On February 23, 2026, K&B Tennessee Holdings, LLC took over operational control of GrafTech Advanced Graphite Materials, LLC Class II disposal facility at 791 Santa Fe Pike, Columbia, TN 38401 (latitude 35.6381/longitude -87.0578). GrafTech Advanced Graphite Materials, LLC will continue as the permit holder. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s (TDEC), Division of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) approves the change for the Class II landfill, pursuant to Rule 0400-11-01-.02(6)(a) of Tennessee's Solid Waste Program Processing and Disposal Regulations as a minor permit modification to the permit for the GrafTech Advanced Graphite Materials, LLC Class II Landfill (IDL600000047).

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), Division of Solid Waste Management (DSWM), has issued a permit major modification to Knoxville Landfills, LLC. The facility, identified as Riverside C&D Class III Landfill (DML470000011), is located in Knox County at 3330 Delrose Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee (latitude 35.980347 N/longitude -83.867839 W). 

This permit allows construction, operation, closure, and post-closure care of the Class III disposal facility for the disposal of farming wastes, landscaping and land clearing wastes, construction/demolition waste, shredded automotive tires, and/or certain wastes having similar characteristics and approved in writing by TDEC. No hazardous wastes, as regulated by the Tennessee Hazardous Waste Management Act (Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 68-212-101, et. seq.) and the Rules adopted pursuant to the Act, shall be accepted for disposal at this facility.

DSWM made the draft of this permit available for review during a 45-day public comment period, which ended on January 5, 2026. DSWM has prepared a Response to Comments document, which summarizes comments received during the public comment period.

The Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), Division of Solid Waste Management (DSWM), after a 45-day comment period ending on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, DSWM terminated the solid waste disposal facility permit issued to Gateway View, LLC. The facility, identified as Gateway View, LLC Class II Landfill (IDL330000102), is located in Hamilton County, adjacent to and to the north of 2701 Chestnut Street, Chattanooga, Tennessee (latitude 35.034014/longitude -85.323659).

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), Division of Solid Waste Management (DSWM), has issued a permit major modification to Knoxville Landfills, LLC. The facility, identified as Poplar View Class III Landfill (DML470000057), is located in Knox County at 1730 McMillan Station Road, Knoxville, Tennessee (latitude 36.04703 N/longitude -83.80235 W).

This permit would allow construction, operation, closure, and post-closure care of the Class III disposal facility for the disposal of farming wastes, landscaping and land clearing wastes, construction/demolition waste, shredded automotive tires, and/or certain wastes having similar characteristics and approved in writing by TDEC. No hazardous wastes, as regulated by the Tennessee Hazardous Waste Management Act (Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 68-212-101, et. seq.) and the Rules adopted pursuant to the Act, shall be accepted for disposal at this facility.

DSWM made the draft of this permit available for review during a 45-day public comment period, which ended on September 15, 2025. DSWM has prepared a Response to Comments document, which summarizes comments received during the public comment period.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), Division of Solid Waste Management (DSWM), has issued a permit major modification to the City of Lawrenceburg. The facility, identified as the Lawrenceburg Class III Demolition Landfill (DML500000024), is located in Lawrence County on Grinnell Road, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee (Latitude 35.2054 N/Longitude -87.3827 W). This major modification will result in the reshaping of the existing sediment pond, construction of modified perimeter ditches and other drainage features, and the subsequent addition of final cover to close the landfill. This modification does not add additional air space or capacity to this landfill.

This permit would allow closure and post-closure care of the Class III disposal facility for the disposal of farming wastes, landscaping and land clearing wastes, construction/demolition waste, shredded automotive tires, and/or certain wastes having similar characteristics and approved in writing by TDEC. No hazardous wastes, as regulated by the Tennessee Hazardous Waste Management Act (Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 68-212-101, et. seq.) and the Rules adopted pursuant to the Act, shall be accepted for disposal at this facility. The official responsible for the operation of the facility is Mr. Gary Wayne Hyde, City of Lawrenceburg Solid Waste Director, 2126 Baler Drive, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464 (931-766-0900).

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), Division of Solid Waste Management (DSWM), has issued a permit major modification to the Marion County Government. The facility, identified as the Marion County Class I Landfill (SNL5800000197), is located in Marion County at 700 Chasey Simpson Road, Jasper, Tennessee (latitude 35.041667 N/longitude -85.627778 W). 

This major modification corrected a construction deviation from the previous permit that resulted in the liner being constructed outside of the permitted waste limits.  This major modification also resulted in an overall capacity decrease of 122,000 cubic yards to avoid conflicts with the existing transfer station at the site. This permit allows construction, operation, closure, and post-closure care of the Class I disposal facility for waste materials classified as domestic wastes, commercial wastes, institutional wastes, municipal solid wastes, bulky wastes, landscaping and land clearing wastes, industrial wastes, construction/demolition wastes, farming wastes, shredded automotive tires, dead animals, and/or certain wastes having similar characteristics and approved by TDEC. No hazardous wastes, as regulated by the Tennessee Hazardous Waste Management Act (Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 68-212-101, et. seq.) and the Rules adopted pursuant to the Act, shall be accepted for disposal at this facility.

DSWM made the draft of this permit available for review during a 45-day public comment period, which ended on January 26, 2026. DSWM received no oral or written comments during the above-mentioned public comment period.
