  • Tennessee's Unemployment Rate for November 5.6%

    NASHVILLE – Tennessee Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips announced today the Tennessee preliminary unemployment rate for November was 5.6 percent, unchanged from the October revised rate. The U.S. preliminary rate for November was 5.0 percent, also unchanged from the prior month.

  • TN Dept. of Labor Announces 2016 Highway Prevailing Wage Rates

    NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development announced today the 2016 Highway Prevailing Wage Rates. There was an increase in wage rates for 14 classifications, a decrease in nine classifications, and the wage rates for two classifications remained unchanged since 2015. The wage rate for one classification – Mechanic (Class II) Light Duty – increased more than a dollar and the wage rate for one classification – Bricklayer – decreased more than a dollar.

    NASHVILLE – Tennessee Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips announced today the Tennessee preliminary unemployment rate for October was 5.6 percent, one-tenth of one percentage point lower than the September revised rate of 5.7 percent. The U.S. preliminary rate for October was 5.0 percent, one-tenth of one percentage point lower than the prior month.
