Tennessee State Veterans Home in Arlington to Celebrate Opening with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

ARLINGTON, TN – The Tennessee State Veterans Home in Arlington will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. CST on Tuesday, December 1, 2026, celebrating the completion of the new 126-bed skilled nursing facility serving Veterans in West Tennessee.

Tennessee Department of Veterans Services Commissioner Tommy Baker, Tennessee State Veterans Homes Executive Director Ed Harries, Shelby County Mayor Mickell M. Lowery, Arlington Mayor Michael Wissman, state and local elected officials, and other distinguished guests will attend the ceremony.

Located on 28.5 acres in rural Shelby County, the neighborhood-style facility features residential houses with 18 private rooms each, intimate courtyards and dining spaces. A community center includes a bistro, large activity space, and state-of-the-art therapy gym.

“This new Veterans Home represents Tennessee’s commitment to ensuring our Veterans receive the dignity, respect, and exceptional service they have earned,” said Commissioner Baker. “We are proud to celebrate this milestone and welcome Veterans to a facility designed to provide outstanding care while fostering a true sense of community. We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who supported this project. Their commitment, hard work, and continued support helped make this day possible and will have a lasting impact for generations to come.”

The Arlington Veterans Home expands access to quality long-term care for West Tennessee Veterans and reflects Tennessee’s commitment to honoring those who have served our nation.
